In 2017, it will be the first professional school at Matutuine, Mozambique!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n Djabula Professional School: A NEW PATH OF HOPE FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF MATUTUINE AND THEIR FAMILIES!<\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n Since 1999, NGO VIDA\u00a0is working with\u00a0rural communities in Matutuine, the southernmost district of\u00a0Mozambiqueneighboring Maputo city, but so isolated as to merge the livelihoods with the mainly dry and sandy soils, making the population extremely vulnerable to the slightest change in weather or food prices.<\/span><\/p>\n VIDA has built a\u00a0Communitary\u00a0Development Centre at Djabula village\u00a0and together with families started to\u00a0identify the real problems\u00a0that maintain people in extreme poverty. Primarily working to improve basic life conditions, such us improved housing, access to water and better education. In order to do so, along the years VIDA has been working with people through participatory development methodologies – activities such as natural resources management, agricultural trials to test drought tolerant varieties, nursery for indigenous species for replanting forestry and rural associations capacity building.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We believe that are new paths to tread along with these families and their children: in 2017\u00a0<\/b>we are opening\u00a0the first class\u00a0<\/b>of theDjabula Professional School\u00a0<\/b>with an\u00a0Agriculture Course<\/b>, which will take place in the\u00a0Djabula Communitary Development Centre<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Nowadays,\u00a0Matutuine\u00a0district<\/b>\u00a0has 2 highschools which can absorb\u00a0only 11% of the students<\/b>\u00a0of all the district, leaving the most of young people vulnerable to precarious employment and rural exodus to the capital, Maputo, or other border countries like South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n DJABULA PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL creates a SPACE OF OPPORTUNITIES to young people of Matutuine<\/b>, so they can proceed their studies with quality, developing techical skills and being able to get into the job market.<\/span><\/p>\n
